These boxes were originally used by barbers to store their scissors, razor blades and other tools. In rural villages and small towns in India, the roadside barber can still be found setting up shop by the side of the road with his barber’s box perched on a stone wall. Or a small table with a mirror folded up and his tools ready for service.
These are old pieces or have been assembled from old wood. Small marks and scratches will be present and are consistent with age and original use. Each box is unique and will vary in both size and colour.
Useful for storing keepsakes, or jewelry.
